Piping Classes
Starting
Monday April 21, 2008 P/M Dennis Mino will be starting
a new pipe lesson class at the Academy. The class will go from 6pm
- 7pm going forward. If you know of anyone interested in
starting
then
he would suggest they get the following:
College
of Piping Tutor I (the green book) - can be
purchased at the Pipers Cove at www.piperscove.com
Practice
Chanter - also can be purchased at the above location.
The
weekly cost for lessons will be $20, payable at the end of each
night's lesson.
We
will be accepting anyone for lessons as long as they are 18 years
of age or older. Civilians
interested in entering the Band would have to be determined by the
board so as to conform to the
6% rule.

Please contact the Dennis Mino
if you are interested in finding out when the next
class will start. If you have some bagpipe chanter or drumming experience you may be able to fit into a class already in session. In order to become a probationary member of The Band, a piper applicant must be able to play approximately 19 tunes selected by the Pipe Major. When ready, an audition is scheduled. The applicant piper will then perform for the music committee, which is comprised of the Piping Instructor, the Pipe Major and the Pipe Sergeant. |

ARE NEEDED!
Drumming classes are also started as needed. Currently The Band is canvassing for drummer applicants. Prospective drummers are also required to pass an audition before the music committee. |
