The founding of the Police
Emerald Society of Westchester.
The following founders met at Sheehy's Saw Mill Lodge in Hawthorne, N.Y. on
Saturday April 6th, 1968,
Edward Murphy - White Plains PD
Allan Gleason - Mt.
Pleasant PD
Thomas Dugan - Yonkers PD
Thomas Maloney and John McCormick -
New Rochelle PD
Raymond Holden - Greenburgh PD.
They gathered there with Barney Ferguson and Bill McGowan of the NYPD Emerald
Society who counseled them in starting an Emerald Society here in Westchester.
The first meeting of the Society was held at the Green Derby in New Rochelle.
Subsequent meetings were held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in White Plains.
The slate of Officers were installed by NY
Supreme Court Judge Hugh McCollough at the 1st Installation Dinner Dance which was held at Schraffts in Eastchester.
The MC for the evening was the "Voice of the St. Patrick's Day Parade"
Jack McCarthy.
The Pipes and Drums of the NYPD Emerald Society performed.
